Q.        What is the YHA in Dolphin Retreat YHA?

A.        YHA is affiliated with Hostelling International, the largest and oldest budget accommodation provider in the world. We aim to provide the best priced, safe and secure accommodation for all travellers so they have more to spend on enjoying themselves.

Suitability

Q.        Will it be safe for school groups and younger groups?

A.        Yes. All rooms comply with safety regulations. The front and back doors are combination locked. CCTV 24hr security monitoring is in operation. Smoking is not permitted in any of the rooms or common areas of the building. Unsociable behaviour is not tolerated.

Q.        Am I too old to stay at Dolphin Retreat YHA?

A.        No. Age is only a number. Your spirit never ages. We have had guests ranging from 8 months to 80 years old staying with us.

Q.        Is there a curfew?

A.        No. The front door and the car park gates are locked at 9pm. You will be given a code at check-in to allow you to enter through the front door after 9pm. Guests returning late are asked to respect others and keep noise to a minimum.

Q.        Is Dolphin Retreat YHA clean? We have stayed in other places that were not!

A.        Yes. Our bathrooms and kitchen are clean. Our bedrooms are free from dirt and dust and are tidy.

Rooms

Q.        What type of rooms do you have?

A.        We have singles, doubles (double or queen bed), twins (2 single beds or a bunk), triples (a single and a bunk), group rooms for up to 6 and a family room for 2 adults and 3 children.

Q.        Are the rooms air-conditioned so you do not get too hot?

A.        Yes the rooms are cooled to allow you to have a good nights sleep.

Dolphins

Q.        Can I see Dolphins in Bunbury?

A.        Yes. Bunbury is famous for its Dolphins. You can view Dolphins in their own habitat at the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury. Please call the Centre on (08) 9791 3088 or view online at www.dolphindiscovery.com.au for further information. We have tickets for entry to the centre and cruises available for purchase at reception.

Office Hours & Check-in

Q.        What are your office hours?

A.        8am to 10am and 4pm to 9pm.

Q.        What do I do if I arrive between office hours?

A.        Please make yourself at home. There is free tea & coffee in the kitchen. Relax and talk with the other guests or leave your luggage in the lounge room (take your valuables with you) and sight see around Bunbury. We also have free lockers in the common area for you to store your belongings. You will need your own padlock. We will see you when the office next opens.

Confirmation of Bookings / Late Check-In

Q.        How do I confirm my booking?

A.        You will need to supply valid credit card details, money order, direct deposit or book and pay online at www.yha.com.au

Q.        Will you charge my credit card if I give you the number to confirm my booking?

A.        No. You can pay by cash or card when you check in. We will only charge the card as per our cancellation policy, if you fail to show up for your booking or do not give us 48 hrs notice prior to cancelling the booking

Q.        I am arriving late. Can I have a late check-in?

A.        Yes. We will charge your credit card for one night’s accommodation and a key deposit, and organise for you to collect the key after hours. You can pay for the remaining nights you wish to stay at reception when it next opens. Late check-ins are to be organised prior to arrival.

Linen & Towels

Q.        Do I need to bring any bed linen?

A.        No. All your bed linen is supplied.

Q.        Will I need to bring my own towel?

A.        Complimentary towels are provided in all rooms except for dormitory rooms. You can hire a towel for $1 if you forget to bring one.

Facilities

Q.        Is there a BBQ to use?

A.        Yes, and it is free to use.

Q.        Is there a kitchen to use?

A.        Yes. Use of the kitchen is free. Please clean up any mess you make.

Q.        Are there any fridges in the kitchen?

A.        Yes, and freezers also.

Q.        Is there breakfast available?

A.        Yes, and it is FREE!!  Breakfast is available between 8am-10am and consists of toast, jam & vegemite.  There is also free tea & coffee available.

Q.        Do I need to bring my own cutlery and crockery?

A.        No. We supply this free for you. You will have to pay a small deposit when we give you the dish pack. Your deposit will be returned to you when the dish pack is returned to reception when you check-out.

Q.        Do the rooms have ensuites?

A.        No, there are clean share bathrooms.  Ladies and Gents have separate bathrooms.

Luggage Storage

Q.        Where can I store my luggage if I arrive between office hours or while I wait for my bus to arrive?

A.        We have free lockers in the common area for you to store your belongings. You will need your own padlock.

Q.        Do you have discounts for people staying for longer?

A.        Yes. We have great weekly rates.

Q.        Do you accept discount cards?

A.        Yes. We accept YHA, & VIP, Nomads & Hostelling International cards

Q.        How long can I stay for?

A.        As long as you want, depending on availability.

Q.        Can I find better priced City Centre accommodation only a few minutes walk to the beach and Main Street, and has a kitchen, laundry, pool table, BBQ & free breakfast.

A.        Unlikely.

Alcohol

Q.       Do you have a bar serving alcohol?

A.        No.

Q.        Can we consume alcohol on the premises?

A.        Yes, you may bring alcohol onto the premises but may only be consumed by those of legal age. Practitioners of unsociable behaviour will be immediately removed from the premises.

A.        Toast, Jam, Vegemite, tea & coffee.

Car Parking & Car Rental

A.        Yes. Free car parking is available. Sometimes the car park becomes full so do not be the last one to check-in!

Transport

Q.        I am catching a train to Bunbury. How do I get to Dolphin Retreat YHA?

A.        Monday to Saturday only, there is a free shuttle bus during the day that will bring you into the city centre. If you catch the night train or train on Sunday into Bunbury you will need to catch a taxi into the city.

Q.        Can I walk from the train station to Dolphin Retreat YHA?

A.        The train station is not in the city centre. It may take you up to 1 hour to walk.
